Treatment philosophy: treatment first, surgery last
“Every child deserves the most gentle, evidence-based path to better vision. I will always explore every possible treatment option before recommending surgery — because the right approach makes all the difference.”
Children's eye conditions deserve the most careful and least invasive approach that will actually work. In practice that means three commitments:
- Thorough diagnosis. A complete, child-friendly assessment — including cycloplegic refraction and dilated examination — before any treatment plan is proposed.
- Structured conservative treatment. Glasses, patching, orthoptics and medical management are given a genuine trial, with follow-up to measure whether they are working.
- Surgery only when it is the right answer. Recommended when the conservative route cannot achieve the outcome, with honest counselling about what the operation will and will not change.
Families are given enough information to make their own decisions. That includes being told when a finding is harmless and no treatment is needed — which is a frequent and entirely legitimate outcome of a consultation.
